USB Type-C® Interface ESD Protection ICs

Amazing's ICs are very low clamping voltage solutions with optimized ESD protection for Tx/Rx and CC/SBU/D+/D- signal lines

Image of Amazing's USB Type-C Interface ESD Protection ICAmazing's USB Type-C interface ICs offer advanced technology for ESD protection designs. The AZ5B9S-01F is designed for USB 4 with a parasitic capacitance of <0.2 pF to successfully pass the eye diagram test at 40 Gb/s and avoid parasitic capacitance from limiting the transmission of differential signals on USB 4. The AZ5B9S-01F has an extremely low ESD clamping voltage, which can effectively assist the USB 4 interface to survive ±8 kV ESD strikes (contact discharge) in direct-pin injection testing. This device has a current-voltage curve that is measured by TLP to indicate that the clamping voltage of 4.6 V under ESD strikes for an 8 kV contact discharge (IEC 61000-4-2) with an equivalent TLP current of approximately 16 A. This can effectively avoid data errors, system crashes, and server damage to the system during ESD testing.

The AZ1045-08F can protect the remaining signal lines including D+, D-, CC, and SBU. The device pins are staggered to facilitate the feed-through design on PCB layouts, avoiding difficulties in wiring. It accelerates the PCB design process and minimizes the PCB size to reduce system costs. This interface also provides fast charging. The AZ3105-01F, AZ4512-01F, and AZ4520-01F components are suitable for the power port to protect the interface from ESD/EOS events.
