The power solution for the AC EV charger is relatively simple, it only needs to power the control part, the display part, and the communication part. Therefore, one AC/DC module and several DC/DC low-power modules are usually sufficient. The selection of AC/DC modules is very important and requires a wide input voltage range, good EMC performance, high efficiency, compact size, and even OVCⅢ. In addition, the quantity of AC chargers is very large, so the price is also an important factor to consider when selecting a power supply.

A DC EV charger is more much complex and requires more power supplies when compared with an AC EV charger. For the AC/DC main power supplies, usually 150 W ~ 480 W enclosed, or DIN rail power supplies are required. Compared with the AC charger, the DC EV charger has an additional component, the off-board charger, which also requires the main power, and some SiC MOSFETS drive power supplies.
