Tripp Lite's docking stations offer universal connectivity
Tripp Lite's USB Type-C connector (also called USB-C) has become commonplace on electronic devices that are used every day, including laptops, tablets, smartphones, and desktop computers. Like previous generations of USB, USB-C connectors can transfer data and power, but they’re smaller, reversible, support faster speeds, and deliver more power, opening many applications. With USB-C, a laptop or tablet can recharge, output ultra-high-definition (UHD) video, connect old or new peripherals, and transfer files at speeds up to 10 Gbps, all through one tiny port. Tripp Lite USB-C solutions make the most of a device’s USB-C ports, providing powerful functionality and convenient portability.
Features
- Power delivery (PD)
- Power delivery (PD) technology passes through up to 60 W or 100 W (depending on model) from a USB-C charger to a connected laptop or another device
- This is especially helpful for devices with only one USB-C port
- DP alt mode video output
- DisplayPort alternate mode (DP alt mode) allows a compatible device to output HD (1080p) or UHD (4K) video through a docking station to an external television, monitor or projector without installing special software drivers
- Audio support
- Some docking stations also include a separate 3.5 mm audio output
- Extra USB ports
- Docking stations with extra USB ports can connect peripherals and other devices, such as printers, external drives, and smartphones
- USB 3.1 Gen 1/Gen 2
- USB 3.1 Gen 1 is equivalent to the USB 3.0 standard, supporting data transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps; USB 3.1 Gen 2 supports speeds up to 10 Gbps
- Gigabit Ethernet (GbE)
- A Gigabit Ethernet port provides network connectivity when a faster connection than Wi-Fi is desired, or Wi-Fi is simply unavailable
Typical Applications
- Play video from a laptop or PC on an HDMI display, such as an HDTV or projector
- Access a wired Ethernet network in a location with no or spotty Wi-Fi
- Upload data from a notebook or download data from the Ethernet at true 10 Mbps / 100 Mbps / 1000 Mbps Ethernet speeds
- Transfer data to and from a USB Flash drive or microSD memory card
- Charge a notebook or laptop by connecting its wall charger to the USB-C PD charging port
- Write a report using a USB keyboard with a tablet or Android smartphone
