IES01/IAS01 Series Converters

XP Power's IES01 and IAS01 series of low-cost, 1 W DC/DC converters replace the ISE/ISA series. The surface mount single output IES01 and dual output IAS01 of unregulated converters include an integrated controller chip resulting in a lower component count that provides an enhanced yield with cost savings. Other benefits are better capacitive loading characteristics, integrated overtemperature and short circuit protection, higher efficiency at light load, and no-load reducing power consumption.

The input range is ±10% 4.5 V_DC to 5.5 V_DC for 5.0 V nominal. The IES01 has six single output voltages: 3.3 V_DC, 5.0 V_DC, 9.0 V_DC, 12 V_DC, 15 V_DC, and 24 V_DC. The IAS01 has five dual output voltages: ±5.0 V_DC, ±9.0 V_DC, ±12 V_DC, ±15 V_DC, and ±24 V_DC. The ±15 and ±24 could be used to provide single output voltages of 30 V_DC and 48 V_DC. There is a minimum load requirement of 10%, and efficiency is up to 85%. The input to output isolation is 1.5 kV_DC or 3.0 kV_DC.

These 1 W convection cooled converters have a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +105°C with full power available to +100°C. Standards include safety IEC/EN/UL62368-1, EMC immunity EN61000-4-2 for ESD, EN55032 Class B for conducted EMC emissions (with minimal additional components). Moisture sensitivity level (MSL) is 1. The protection category is IPX6 according to IEC60529. The mean time between failure (MTBF) is 3.5 MHrs at +25°C (MIL-HDBK-21F).

The single output IES01 is housed in a DIP8 SMD package, which measures 0.52” x 0.335” x 0.285” (13.2 mm x 8.5 mm x 7.25 mm) and is supplied in tube quantities of 38. The dual output IAS01 is housed in a DIP10 SMD package, which measures 0.60” x 0.335” x 0.285” (15.24 mm x 8.5 mm x 7.25mm) and is supplied in tube quantities of 32. There is a tape-and-reel option for volume production with a reel quantity of 500.

The IES01 and IAS01 provide excellent cost savings while offering an enhanced specification compared to the original ISE and ISA series. The improved efficiency and reduced power consumption will particularly benefit battery-powered applications by providing a longer battery life. With an IPX6 rating, the devices are suitable for production processes utilizing water wash cleaning.
