Low Voltage Differential Signaling, or ‘LVDS’, is a protocol that exploits the difference in voltages between two wires to signal information. It can be thought of as a type of current loop signaling. In practical terms, LVDS enables engineers to design systems able to deliver clean high-speed signals, over long distances, with a low power budget. LVDS is standardized under ANSI/TIA/EIA-644 and has been implemented in diverse applications and electronic equipment types.
