In the D-Sub Pin-in-Paste version, the low insertion force is made possible by specific metal pegs (used in place of harpoons) and its weight offering a counter balance stability prior to reflow. The enlarged area around the metal peg avoids paste interaction between the plastic back housing and the PCB. The high-temperature plastic insulators used in this design are compatible with standard reflow process temperatures.
