One solution is to use components that are specifically designed for overvoltage conditions. Some parts include voltage protection that allow voltage beyond the supply rails. Their datasheets typically advertise this feature and their absolute maximum ratings will show voltages beyond the supplies are allowed. The input stage for the AD8226 and AD8227 is shown here.
