Shown here is an example board layout of an analog part versus a digital part. This slide illustrates the large reduction in component count as well as the added capability of programmable power, particularly things such as fault management, working together with the system, the ability to talk to it through I²C, and power monitoring. Functionalities that are not available through an analog solution without adding external components to do it.
