Half wavelength is the shortest resonant wavelength of a typical antenna.  Johanson chip antennas are constructed based on a quarter-wave monopole system.  When used in conjunction with an appropriate transmission line feed structure and a suitable ground plane, a half wavelength dipole system is achieved.  The ground plane serves as a counterpoise that forms the other quarter wave element, thus creating a complete half wavelength dipole system.
