The IEC 711 coupler is also used to measure earphones when paired with the DB2012 interface. In fact it is the only recognized standard for taking in-ear earphone response measurements. It has the same issue with respect to resonant frequency, often showing up as an artificial peak in the 8 to 12 kHz range depending on the earphone.
