Pull-up resistors can also be added to the clock and data lines to optimize the I²C EEPROM design. Depending on the speed of the bus, a 2 kΩ or 10 kΩ resistor is used. To further optimize the system with minimized power consumption or maximized speed, Application Note AN1028 goes through the calculations to select the optimal resistor size.
