The SPI interface of the VTI automotive series is designed to support almost any microcontroller that uses software implemented SPI. The accelerometer operates always as a slave device in the master-slave operation mode. The data transfer between the master and accelerometer is performed serially with a four wire system in 16-bit frame. SPI protocol has measurement error indicators and it supports burst mode reading.
