Once it is compressed, the packets can be sent out over the network. The connection over the network is controlled by the core control and signaling module popularly referred to as the SIP stack, although the SIP stack itself is only one component of this block. After that is a standard interface to the network with the TCP/IP protocol going out over the Ethernet network.
