A pair of L6202 used with the L6506 or L297 implements the complete interface from the microcontroller to the motor with very few external components, mainly the current sense resistor, resistor divider to set the reference voltage and the bootstrap capacitors. When using the L6203 in this configuration motor currents in excess of 3 amps can be supplied. As technology has improved so has the level of integration achieved in the motor driver ICs.
