These low voltage rails can be derived in several ways. One way is to use a 12VDC supply rail from an AC/DC power supply to directly power the 12V input POLs. This provides the lowest cost solution, and there is no need to use an intermediate bus converter (step down stage). Large currents in the 12V rail can be hard to distribute around the system though.
