Within those broad categories, there are numerous specific applications for the PT series. As with other socket-mounted relays, the PT series are broadly used in many high-cycle applications where a relay might typically reach the end of its life before equipment in which it is operating reaches the end of its life.  When socket-mounted, the relay can be easily replaced.
