For a non-synchronous solution, the designer will have to add an external diode to the BOM. With the SIMPLE SWITCHER® synchronous devices, both the high-side and low-side FETs are included in the regulator, making the solution size smaller, giving better EMI performance due to a smaller di/dt loop and improved efficiency.
