A typical DC/DC converter requires the addition of an inductor for the circuit to operate. The inductor requires additional PCB space. However, the Torex XCL206, with package dimensions of 2.0mm x 2.5mm makes a compact design possible. Although the inductor is built-in, the XCL206 maintains a low profile with a height of 1.0mm. A board space reduction of up to 50% is made possible by using the XCL206 to replace the typical DC/DC converter.
