Different flash card form factors include varying levels of protection against power cycling. ATP microSD and SD cards are limited in real estate to include on board capacitors and hence employ ATP PowerProtector Lite which is firmware based power protection. ATP MLC Compact Flash also uses ATP PowerProtector Lite, however ATP SLC Compact Flash cards benefit from capacitance based protection – ATP PowerProtector in addition to the passive features from PowerProtector Lite.
