This movement provides a proportional output. Represented graphically here, when the lever is at rest in center it provides a voltage output of 2.5V. As the lever moves right (South) the voltage output increases gradually to 5V, when the lever is moved left (North) the voltage output is gradually decreased to a point of 0V.
