Reed switches are manufactured by inserting the blades into the glass tube and then hermetically sealing both ends. This seal makes the reed switches intrinsically safe and usable in many harsh environments where other switches would not survive. During the manufacturing process, samples of production are periodically subjected to verification tests which include visual inspection, parametric testing and the cycling of switches on and off under specified switching load conditions.
