There are a few differences between the XP and the XP2. First, as mentioned previously the dome height is slightly higher, on the new generation of XP Family. In the vast majority of designs the slightly larger dome size will have no effect on designs either physically or optically. There is also a cosmetic difference in that the XP2 family does not have the green solder mask that the original product had, as can be seen in the picture shown here.
