Slew rate control allows a switch to be turned on in a controlled fashion as not to overload the source voltage which may introduce droops or transients that would be detrimental to system behavior. Inrush currents are a combination of the capacitive load and needed system load current (ILoad). The controlled VOUT slew rate as shown on the right limits peak currents preventing a drop in VIN and mitigating the peak current.
