There are several different keying options in the Micro-USB standards -- the A, B and AB. Certain keying options can be inter-changed with plug/receptacle combinations. An A type plug will fit with AB receptacles. Type B plugs will fit with B and AB receptacles. These different keying options comply with the USB Standards Committee which has designated that certain keying options are to be used on specific devices.
