Based on the previously explained facts, the idle power consumption of Infineon’s MERUS™ multi-level class D amplifier is only 52 mW at 18 V PVDD, which is only one-tenth that of the conventional class D amplifiers. This greatly helps to improve the system audio playback efficiency performance because idle power consumption dominantly determines the efficiency of an audio system, where the class D amplifiers are mostly running at light load conditions.
