Another application for several opportunities for the ISL8117/A is for the telecom market. Traditionally, a 48V supply is taken to an intermediate supply rail of 9V to 18V before being converted further. The devices used in recent designs for no isolation DC to DC conversion go directly from 48V to 5V at 3A. Renesas has also seen some design-ins with computer networking systems thanks to the ease of use of the device.
