KEMET’s power inductor, simply stated, is a coil surrounding a sintered powder of magnetic metal composite material, formed into a surface mount device. The wire coil is attached to terminals. A metal composite inductor has advantages over traditional ferrite inductors because the material provides high permeability and high saturation flux density for a stronger magnetic field. Additionally, there is lower loss with the use of metal composite, resulting in a more efficient device.
