G.hn is an International Telecommunications Union standard for communications over any wire. For this presentation, Lumissil will concentrate on using the power lines for communications since it is ubiquitous and a very convenient medium. Though G.hn was started initially as a unified standard for home networking, it has been extended to SmartGrid networking; also known as Broadband over Power Lines (BPL). In fact, G.hn is still evolving today and pushing into many other markets.
