Another potential application for the CLC is output pin re-routing. In the example above, the RB7/EUSART transmit pin is re-routed internally via the CLC to output on RC4, RC0, RA4 or RA2 pins, thus saving the additional board space required to run additional traces or perhaps eliminating the need for an additional board layer. Used in this manner, the CLC could save both board space and cost.
