Another way to develop a differential pressure in a flow channel is to use a flow cross as illustrated here. The flow sensor measures the bypass air flow, which is again proportional to the main channel flow, which is then used to calculate the total air flow in the channel using the same methods as the orifice discussed on the previous page.
