The AEC Q101 standard also indicates how to perform AEC Q001 and Q002. The Q001 is the guideline for part average testing, the PAT. This is the most significant improvement in the automotive grade process vs. the standards, because the target of the PAT is to remove all of the abnormal parts from production which a supplier could potentially ship to the customer. PAT uses a statistical technique to avoid sending a customer parts that are outside the statistical process control.
