The key issue of concern, especially with larger battery packs, is that over time any variation between a weak cell in a pack in comparison with other strong cells in the pack will increase. The lowest cell never gets fully charged, and then on the subsequent discharge cycles, it falls below the cutoff threshold first, which causes the entire pack to shut off the application.
