The illustration gives a comparison of room-temperature impedance as a function of frequency for 1uF capacitors in tantalum and Y5V MLCC technologies. Since decoupling performance, in particular, is often determined by the capacitor’s impedance, the lower impedance of the MLCC for frequencies above 100KHz in this case makes it the preferred choice.
