Thermally conductive tape offers a low cost solution that requires no other mechanical attachment. Thermal performance of tape can suffer when the heatsink and component are not precisely flat; as it is not a very conformable TIM. Due to the presence of adhesive, the tape usually offers a lower conductivity than grease or phase change material.
