For instance if the designer wanted to monitor the duty cycle, while dynamically changing the dead time, one would watch for the minimum duty cycle and then go ahead and slightly increase the dead time, that would be the most efficient operating point. In the XRP7704, XRP7708 and XRP7740 there is actually a fixed dead time in that product. The new XRP7724 can adjust the dead time in 607ps steps.
