Polyester Overlay keypads are highly reliable and with superior tactile feedback. Tooling costs are comparable to those of membrane switches, and they offer maximum flexibility with graphics and panel geometry. Although the polyester overlay keypad is splash-proof, the exposed layers of the keypad prevent it from being a completely sealed unit. Therefore, this is not a good technology to use in applications where a sealed, self-contained unit is desirable.
