A rubber keypad with domes and a printed circuit board combines all of the performance advantages of other keypad types into one package. These include high reliability and superior tactile feedback, resistance to liquids and harsh environments, reliable epoxy sealing, if required, and ease of backlighting using LED’s or EL lamps. But keep in mind that the graphics are somewhat limited due to the 3-dimensional nature of most rubber keypads, and molded rubber incurs higher tooling costs.
