During operation, the motor current is compared to a reference, Iref. In the circuit implementation, the current is represented by the voltage across the sense resistor and the reference is really the Vref applied to the comparator. It is expected that as the reference is reduced, the duty cycle will decrease and the current will also decrease proportionally. Ideally following a linear transfer curve like the dashed blue line.
