The VL6180X is a very low power device. The graph illustrates the power consumption of the VL6180X running at ten ranging measurements per second. The convergence time is longer with darker reflectance materials, this means the convergence time is longer, and more power is needed. The power consumption of a 3 % reflectance is below 4 mA while a 17% reflectance target, which is closer to skin or most targets, is below 2 mA. This is a very power-friendly device.
