WiLink 8 has a feature where the user can configure filters in the firmware so that WiLink 8 will only wake up the host when it receives packets matching the filter set by the user, hence saving power, among other advantages. For example, the customer can configure WiLink 8 to wake up the host for only TCP packets or EAPOL packets.
