The SAM3U also features a clock failure detector, which allows detection of an eventual defect of the crystal, disconnection of the crystal for example. In this case, the processor will switch automatically to the internal RC oscillator and will send an interrupt to the system. The customer needs to manage the interrupt, but the response will prevent system hanging. It can also be programmed as a fault input for the PWM controller.
