When comparing ST microphones to the competitors’ physically, the first thing that stands out is that the competitors use metal lids, while ST uses plastic lids. The plastic lid is what allows ST to attach the sensor and the ASIC to the inside of the lid for the top-port microphones, rather than having to mount it on the microphone substrate like the competitors do.
