Shown on this slide is the schematic of the L6474. It has great features for RDSon, protection, and so forth, but what really makes it unique is current control with adaptive decay. Decay is challenging and one of the more complex parts of a stepper motor design. With the L6474 it is easy to spin the motor, hence the name EasySPIN.
