This slide shows the Advantech gateways with Edgelink. The gateways support multiple protocols, PLC I/O drivers, security, and intelligent functions. There are a variety of gateways: the ESRP-PCS-ADAM67xx series has onboard serial, analog, and digital I/O while the ECU-1xxx series only has RS-232/RS-485/CAN ports and no I/O for connecting end devices.
