Shown on this slide is the typical schematic diagram for a 5V fixed output buck converter, using the LM2597 switching regulator. The additional supervisory features, such as shutdown/soft-start, can be seen. Note the inductor value of 100 microhenries is the same value used in the preceding LM2494 5.0V example.
