Star is the simplest topology possible in a ZigBee network. It corresponds to IEEE 802.15.4 star topology and hence has the same features. Only the coordinator can have child nodes, network coverage area is limited by coordinator transmission range, network is simple in set up and deployment and the coordinator is the only node that can route data packets.
