The fuse interrupting rating is the maximum amperage at the rated voltage the fuse can safely interrupt. This rating must be greater than the maximum fault (short-circuit) current the circuit can produce. Interrupting ratings for AC and DC currents are different and the fuse data sheet should be consulted before selection.
