ICL components are specially designed for effectively limiting excessive inrush currents when a device such as the STB is turned on. An ICL can handle this task because of its relatively high cold resistance, which initially absorbs these high currents. As a result of the current load, the device heats up and reduces its resistance by a factor of 10 to 50, and the power it draws reduces accordingly.
