Just inserting the positive lock does not allow a circuit to be made and will not conduct electricity. Full mating must happen for proper electrical engagement. A decreased amount of load in the mating direction will generate a clear click feeling preventing a partial or incomplete lock condition. Friction lock prevents the plug from floating after it is mated.
