The main demand is for ceramics because of the price and compact size but many of the ceramic applications also use film including automotive, telecommunication and industrial applications. There are many applications where film capacitors are very important including AC applications which is not an advantage for ceramic capacitors. The self healing capability remains a strong advantage for film capacitors.
